Blog 52 | Skill’s Shadow

Creator’s are judged by their skill, not by their work. However, skill itself is intangible, so a creator’s work is only the medium through which their skill can be reflected. In the same way sunlight shines over objects to cast a shadow, so does skill shine through craft to cast an impression. We can see the shadows the light creates, but not the light itself. Our experience of an artists skill is limited to the impressions their work leaves on our senses. The consumption of art is the interpretation of these impressions of the work of the creator. A Creator’s task is to grow the light within them and to refine the medium through which it can be reflected. The power of that light can only be illustrated through the shadow it casts; can only be interpreted through it’s reflection.
