You wear a mask so long, you & the rest of the world forgets who you are beneath it. But what was beneath the mask to begin with but a malleable face molded by outside influences from our youth. At least in creating our own mask, we are the conscious architect of its design—forming it according to our own wills rather than those of our parents, teachers, & cultures. By pretending to be something we’re not, we can become it; to the outside world & eventually to ourselves. This is can be an empowering tactic. It can also be dangerous. An attribute of many of the best tools.
